Symbol of the LPF, and perhaps the world's most iconic parrot. The last known individual living wild in its native north-east Brazil disappeared in 2000. There are 78 (January 2008) in the official breeding programme to recover the species. The LPF has supported the recovery effort from its inception, and birds on deposit from the Government of Brazil breed in its breeding centre in Tenerife.

Il est le symbole de la Fondation Loro Parque, et peut-être le perroquet le plus emblématique du monde. Le dernier individu connu vivant à l'état sauvage a disparu en 2000 de son Nord-est du Brésil natal. Il y en a 78 (Janvier 2008) dans le programme de reproduction officiel des espèces. La Fondation Loro parque a soutenu les efforts de réintroduction pour sa réimplantation, et les oiseaux prêtés par le Gouvernement du Brésil se reproduisent dans son Centre de Reproduction à Tenerife.
