Myrtle Warbler - Setophaga coronata

Paruline à croupion jaune

Myrtle Warbler
This little vignette, painted approximately life-size, shows a species of New-World warbler that is among the earlier spring arrivals in southern Ontario, among its family, and one of the more abundant, sometimes seen in quite large numbers in the woods and gardens as they pass through. The species nests across North America but birds out west have yellow throats, while our eastern birds have white throats. This is a male in breeding plumage; females are browner.
