Famille des Turdidés
17 genres et 175 espèces.
Les turdidés sont des passereaux de taille moyenne à grande. Ils possèdent généralement un bec assez long et fort, et des pattes robustes. La couleur de leur plumage est très variable. Beaucoup sont entièrement dans des tons discrets de brun, de gris ou de noir mais d'autres montrent des couleurs vives dessus ou dessous, bleu, rouge, orange. Le plumage peut être uniforme ou alors tacheté ou barré. Ils sont cosmopolites et fréquentent tous les habitats, depuis les plus ouverts jusqu'à la forêt dense. Leur régime est insectivore et frugivore.
